When we were asked to design and produce cribs for a gallery, we began with a look at what was available. We were familiar with the depressing quality available in the general furniture market, but we were not ready for what we found.
Most models of cribs, in all price ranges were universally shoddy in construction.
Our position is that if you are hesitant about spending any great amount on a crib, find one in a flea market, the classifieds, or ebay, and pay as little as possible for it. Refinish it if necessary, and discard it when you are finished using it.
If would like to purchase a quality crib that will last for generations, look at ours first and compare others to them.

We designed this crib with enough Arts & Crafts elements to attract the audience that is finding that style appealing. We wanted to have at least one crib that would have a universal appeal.
The broad center panels on the ends, framed with a gallery of spindles, and the corbels on the lower stretchers are unmistakably Arts & Crafts. This is achieved without sacrificing a more traditional overall appearance.
Available in our Mission colors, and also Red, Antique White, Tan/Natural, and Yellow, this crib will fit in almost any setting. After its use as a crib is finished, the drop side is removed and the front stretcher attached to the concealed hanger. It will serve as a youth bed or a small dressing couch. The only evidence that remains of it being a crib are five inconspicuous threaded inserts that are recessed into each leg.
The quality of the overall construction is evidenced by the fact that there are 84 mortise and tenon joints in each crib. All components are carefully matched for color and grain, and assembled in a manner that gives an overall continuity to the entire piece.

We have discarded the most offensive parts of the original hardware and substituted hidden components wherever possible.
This means that there is absolutely no hardware or bolt heads visible on the fixed side.
This crib is designed to last for generations. It will stand continuous use as a crib or couch, and transforms easily between the two.

Handmade throughout, the care and concern is evident in every aspect of its construction. There is no veneer, only the highest quality Ash or Quartersawn Oak is used. The weight of the crib is about 130 lbs. The strong components are deeply mortised into each other and carefully assembled.
