NO MORE DROP SIDES ON OUR CRIBS ....
JUNE 15, 2009
This is the first photo of the new style.
The wood is hard and strong and the entire crib is solid and battleship tough.
The lighter color of the Ash allows us to use a wide palette of colors to suit any taste. Some find the design strength and colors of the traditional "Mission" look to be too masculine. Whatever your choice, Ash or Quartersawn Oak,
this crib will be a stunning focal point in any nursery.
The work of C.R. Mackintosh was an inspiration for both the design and the color choices in this piece. We have achieved a distinctly individual style with the form, and allowed for any atmosphere, from sophisticated to whimsical, with the range of color choices.
We offer the crib in Antique White, a truly original Yellow, natural/tan, and any of the Mission colors ranging from light to dark.
We also offer a Red that has to be seen to be appreciated.
We have made more of these in Black than we ever thought we would. And, we can't deny how stunning they look.
Using our aniline dye technique, we have left all of the grain and wood texture evident in any of the colors.
This is a far cry from the painted finish on most cribs. The dyes are top coated with the highest quality Water Resistant Lacquer and rubbed to a beautiful satin patina and a wonderful feel.
We have an extensive range of other aniline dye colors, and can probably accommodate almost any color need to compliment existing or planned decor.
Special order colors are a flat $300. additional to the cost of any crib.
This is as sophisticated a piece of furniture as any that we make. The legs must be laid out and mortised in pairs, still joined together lengthwise, then carefully cut apart on a bandsaw to achieve the taper.
There is a lot more hand work involved after the taper is cut, because the pieces will not go through machines anymore.
The effort is evident in the results. All of the components are joined with mortise and tenons. There are 84 mortise and tenon joints on each of these cribs.
As w ith all of our cribs, there is an additional stretcher that can be added in place of the drop side when use as a crib is finished. This allows the piece to become an attractive youth bed or a small settle.
The quality wood, careful construction, and durable hardware allow this crib to last through many generations of continuous use.
Call, write, or e-mail us for more information on the color selection available or for further photos of the crib.
