Mission High Chair

Judy designed the high chair in 1996. It is the most complex and difficult piece that we make.

The price does not reflect the amount of work and skill that is needed to produce it.

If we were to charge what we should for these, they would be at least $1000 more.
We love the piece and want to place them in more homes than a higher price would allow.
We will do all that we can to keep making them for what we  are charging now.
We cannot make these one at a time. The only economical way to make them is in batches of 10.
So, there are times that we cannot take an order for one of these high chairs.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ONE OF THESE HIGH CHAIRS, CONTACT US ASAP.
IT WOULD BE PRUDENT TO ORDER ONE OF THESE BEFORE THE BABY WAS BORN, IT MIGHT BE 8 MONTHS BEFORE WE MAKE ANOTHER RUN OF THEM. WHEN WE MAKE 10 OF THEM, THEY ARE USUALLY ALL GONE IN 4-6 MONTHS.
WE DO NOT LOOK FORWARD TO MAKING THE NEXT BATCH OF THEM.....
THESE CHAIRS ARE DIFFICULT AND IRRITATING TO MAKE.
WE CAN MAKE 3X THE $$$$ MAKING BEDS OR TABLES,
AND IT IS ONLY THE SQUEALS OF DELIGHT FROM THE PARENTS THAT KEEPS UP PRODUCING THEM.

WHEN YOU GET ONE OF THESE CHAIRS, YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE IN POSSESSION OF SOMETHING MORE THAN A "CHAIR". THESE ARE A DELIGHT TO SEE. LIKE A SHIP TO A DISTANT PARADISE, THESE CHAIRS REMOVE YOU FROM THE MUNDANE PLASTIC WORLD THAT YOU ARE DOOMED TO INSERT YOUR CHILD INTO.

Mission Highchair seat

The seat is 13" X 12". This is a little larger than one would expect for an infant. We have done this to allow it to be used as a child's seat for several years after it has past its usefulness as a true high chair.

Our initial recommendation is to roll up a couple of towels and use them on either side of a smaller child to keep them secure.

There are inexpensive foam bolster seats that fit nicely in the seat for a younger child.

Mission High Chair Curved tray The top of the arms are 28" from the ground, allowing it to be used as a youth chair with the tray removed. It should slide right up to, and under most standard dining tables  We have used the best hardware available for the securing and removal of the tray

Used as a youth chair, it will provide many years of sitting at the table like an adult for a developing child.

Because their feet are on the step, and not the ground, they will need help in pulling in and moving out from the table. As with any piece of furniture that sits somewhat high, one must constantly be on guard to prevent the child from inadvertently pushing itself over.

Mission HighChair with rectangular tray   The chair exceeds all of the voluntary Federal guidelines for high chairs.

Common sense and recommendations by experts are that children never be left unattended in a high chair. The safety strap provides all of the safety possible to engineer into a piece such as this.

We recommend however, that no child under 8 months of age
be placed in the chair.

Arts & Crafts high Chair

When all of the utilitarian purpose has been extracted from this chair, and it is waiting for another generation, it can grace a corner or a side of some room and will have few equals in its beauty. A plant or piece of pottery on the seat will make it a wonderful accent piece.
